New Citrix ICA Client (11.2)

September 30, 2009

Citrix Released a new Citrix Client and guess what? They changed the name …

Why Citrix still works with version numbers I cannot understand, why do you need version numbers when your going to change the name anyway? :-)

Now, Citrix has a ‘online’ and a ‘offline’ plug-in, which of course does make sense in regard of having streaming applications which you can use offline and published applications which you use on-line.

Where is the neighborhood?

After installing the Citrix Online Plug-in v11.2 I notice that the Program Neighborhood is no longer present in the client, only the client formerly know as Program Neighborhood Agent seems to be in the package. Citrix has announced this would happen: http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX121727

It’s no big secret Citrix is wanting to get rid of the Citrix Program Neighborhood Client because of it’s lack of central management. With this action they are forcing customers to move to a Citrix Web Interface (XenApp Services) solution.

The new version is an executable in which you can extract the .MSI files with the /extract parameter.

You will see the following .MSI files after extraction:

Citrix Receiver for Windows Mobile 11.0

September 29, 2009

Citrix released a Citrix client for the Windows Mobile Based devices. Supported Windows Mobiles versions are 6.0, 6.1 and 6.5.

Apparently Citrix starts off with version 11, guess they had like 10 internal versions before they released this one. :-) I am an Apple iPhone user myself and I like the Citrix Receiver for iPhone since it’s (full) support for (all) Citrix Access Gateway Editions.

New Website OrangeMotion

September 27, 2009

 Logo2

So I made a website for an old student buddy of mine. We lived in the same dorm and he started a business of his own in gardening along with a partner so they needed a website. I fired up the old webdev tools and this is the result. If anyone has any good tips on generating lots of visitors that actually have gardening work, please let me know. :-)

But anyway, I had so much fun creating this website, borrowing tools and templates here and there that I claimed a domain name and created a site of my own. I notice that this is not going as fast as the one I made for my friend. :-) This is the site and I’m expecting to have created something by the end of October.

Microsoft Beta Exam 71-685 Pro: Windows® 7, Enterprise Desktop Support Technician

September 25, 2009

Ok, so I attended this exam yesterday and think I did all right. I do not want to violate Microsoft’s Non Disclosure Agreement so if I’m telling you guys too much you will let me know right? :-)

The exam consisted of 70 questions in which I think I had to guess about 22 of them. I like the number of questions on a Microsoft Beta exams. With Citrix Beta Exams can take up to 250 (!) questions. As if anyone knows what he/she is answering after question number 120. If there are that many questions on a beta exam, that means you can toss the last 150 questions out the window for sure.

Anyway, for this exam know all the new features of Microsoft Windows 7 like BitLocker, BranchCache, DirectAccess, AppLocker, Internet Explorer 8. This information and more on this exam can be found here.

I have scheduled Microsoft Beta Exam 71-686 Pro: Windows® 7, Enterprise Desktop Administrator on October 14th.
